On Wednesday, June 14, 2023, the City’s information technology infrastructure was disrupted. This cyber security incident has impacted our phone system and some online services. It has not impacted public safety dispatch or response times.

As soon as we became aware of the disruption, our team took swift action to secure our network environment. We also partnered with independent cybersecurity and digital forensics experts to assist us in both our response efforts and the restoration process.

Restoring systems and data is our top priority, and we are working tirelessly to ensure their safe and secure recovery. However, at this time, we are unable to provide an exact timeline for when full access will be restored.

We want to emphasize that safeguarding the data entrusted to us and fulfilling our commitment to residents and customers are of utmost importance. The City of West Jordan does not retain or store resident or utility customer financial data, such as bank account, credit card, and debit card information, within our internal systems. We have implemented stringent practices to ensure that such sensitive financial data is not collected or stored by the City. Your financial information remains securely held by the respective financial institutions and payment processors that handle these transactions.

We anticipate the largest impact to residents will be delayed communication and processing timelines. If you have a current utility bill that needs to be paid, you can utilize our secure payment portal online or pay by phone 844-793-0773. Your new utility bill will be delayed. We will provide an update as soon as we have more information on the billing process. If you have questions email customer.service@westjordan.utah.gov. We understand the concern and frustration these outages may be causing, and we appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate through this challenging situation. We are committed to keeping you informed and resolving the issue as swiftly as possible.

Text General Questions: 385-685-9356

Email General Questions: customer.service@westjordan.utah.gov

Emergency: 911

Non-Emergency Dispatch: 801-840-4000

Police Records police@westjordan.utah.gov

Pay Utility Bill: 844-793-0773

Justice Court: wj.copies@westjordan.utah.gov

Building Inspection: wjbuildingpermits@westjordan.utah.gov

Water Emergency: 801-330-4528

Code Enforcement: code.enforcement@westjordan.utah.gov

Events (Western Stampede): events@westjordan.utah.gov

Public Works: public.works@westjordan.utah.gov

What does this mean for Residents?
