Going somewhere this summer and need a passport? The time to get one is now!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our passport office processed 1,600 applications in January, and another 1200 in February \u2013 A lot of people are planning to travel this year, so don\u2019t wait to come see us!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5 Helpful Tips for Getting Your Passport<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  1. Give yourself several months to get your passport – While you can be in and out of our office during one appointment in our office, processing and mailing takes time \u2013\u00a0 and you will need to check for mistakes once it arrives.\n
      \n
    1. If you\u2019re leaving in June, July or August, you need to get to our office ASAP. It can take up to 6 weeks for application processing PLUS mailing time.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. If you are renewing, come see us six months before your passport expires to allow for processing and mailing time.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. We strongly encourage you to make an appointment. <\/em>Walk-ins are accepted, but you may have to wait 45 to 90 minutes for your turn. Appointments are prioritized and walk-ins are seen in order of arrival.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    4. Have your phone ready when you come in: Scan the QR code in our lobby to check-in.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    5. Plan to spend some time with us during your appointment. The process will go faster if you have all your documents completed and in order.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    6. Once you have submitted your application, check the status of your passport on the U.S. Department of State website<\/a>. (Please allow five to seven business days for your status to be available online)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      Schedule Appointment<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Please bring these required items. The more prepared you are, the faster your appointment will go.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

        \n
      1. Bring a completed application. You can download the current application here.<\/a> DO NOT SIGN IT until you meet with our passport agents.\n
          \n
        1. You can print the form and fill it out by hand in black ink, or<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        2. Fill the form on your desktop or laptop computer and print the completed form.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        3. Follow the instructions on the travel.state.gov website for proper application form printing.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        4. All applicants (including children) must be present when applying for a passport.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        5. Children under the age of 16, must be accompanied by both parents\/guardians. Children 16 and 17 must have one parent\/guardian present.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        6. All applicants under 18 need to provide their birth certificate to show parental\/guardian relationship.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        7. The U.S. Department of State can only accept specific types of payment.\n
            \n
          1. A check, money order, or certified check made payable to the U.S. Department of State for the application fee, one for each application. A money order may be purchased on-site from the city. (Money orders are only available for payment to the U.S. Department of State.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          2. And<\/em> cash, check, credit card or debit card for the processing fee due to the City of West Jordan.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          3. Valid picture ID and <\/em>a copy of the front and back.\n
              \n
            1. Current driver’s license<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            2. Aircraft pilot\u2019s license<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            3. Official military ID card<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            4. Parent\u2019s identification for a child\u2019s passport (under the age of 16)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            5. Proof of Citizenship, and<\/em> a copy of the front and back.\n
                \n
              1. Original government-issued birth certificate (hospital issued birth certificates are not accepted)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
              2. Original Certificate of Naturalization<\/li>\n\n\n\n
              3. Original Certificate of Citizenship<\/li>\n\n\n\n
              4. \u00a0Previous U.S. Passport Book or Card<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
              5. Social Security numbers must be provided for all passport applicants, including minors.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
              6. Photo – You can bring your own if it meets the following requirements:\n
                  \n
                1. One passport photo is required with each application<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                2. The photo must have been taken within the last six (6) months<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                3. Pictures must be in color and on a white background<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                4. Pictures must be a 2\u00d72\u201d square<\/li>\n\n\n\n
