The Stormwater Division is committed to safely delivering stormwater to drainage outfalls and minimizing any potential flooding by cleaning and maintaining the storm drain systems.

Each year, West Jordan street sweep crews clear more than 900 miles of curb and gutter and thousands of storm drains every year to keep our watershed safe and our neighborhoods free from flooding.

Our storm drain systems drain directly to the Jordan River. Any material that enters the storm drain system, beyond rainwater, poses a risk to wildlife and contaminates or crews, rivers, and streams. We all live downstream.

Remember, storm drains are not connected to wastewater treatment facilities. Their purpose is to drain excess rainwater. By following these tips and encouraging others to do the same, we can help protect storm drains and preserve the quality of our waterways.

EPA

DEQ – Division of Water Quality

Salt Lake County Stormwater Coalition

Jordan River Commission

Utah Stormwater Advisory Committee

South Salt Lake Valley Mosquito Abatement District

Utah Division of Water Rights

Salt Lake County Watershed Stream and Rain Gauging Program

FEMA Floodplain Information – Flood Control | Salt Lake County

Adopt-A-Drain lets residents “adopt” a storm drain and name it!
