Whether it\u2019s someone ringing a bell outside a store for donations, or donating goods to a local food bank. It\u2019s that time of year where we are reminded to give back and be kind to one another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While these reminders are more prevalent this time of year, I think it\u2019s safe to say that West Jordan residents keep them in mind all year. We are the home of the good neighbor, after all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We provide services in our community. For decades, West Jordan residents have given back in big ways during the holidays. In 1991, religious leaders from several different backgrounds and churches started holding an interfaith event to assist the homeless. Our own West Jordan Middle School hosted the event and continues to be a meeting place for cooperative efforts that give back to our community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We check in on our neighbors. Just last month West Jordan police officers were called to a home, right before Thanksgiving, for a welfare check. They found a family without any food in their home. Officers took the family to the grocery store and bought them everything they needed to get through the next few weeks \u2013 on their own dime. You never know what people are going through. Remember to check in on your neighbors, your friends, and that older couple living down the street. Let\u2019s be there for each other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We support local businesses. Our very own Gardner Village was recently featured in a Holiday Netflix film called \u2018Falling for Christmas\u2019 \u2013 It\u2019s fantastic rest of the world is finding out just how great our city is! I got to visit the set while they were filming and was reminded how lucky we are to have so many great businesses in our city. In 2022 we welcomed more than 700 additional businesses to West Jordan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although this is \u201cMost Wonderful Time of the Year\u201d I am already looking forward to 2023. I look forward to showing you all the great things we have in store for our city.
