Mayor\u2019s Message \u2013 August 2022<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What a wonderful summer we are having! As I ride through your neighborhoods, I often see children out playing in yards, driveways, and streets. It is a thrill for me to hear their laughter with their friends. But it also serves as a reminder to pay close attention as a driver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As we prepare to send our little ones back to school, let\u2019s not forget how this impacts all of us. Back to school serves as a great reminder about watching for children crossing streets and following instructions given by crossing guards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019ve spoken with our West Jordan crossing guards about a few pointers to keep all of us safe this school year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

• Drivers should plan for extra time. The flashing lights in school zones will be on during the morning commute.<\/li>
• Avoid making a U-turn or changing lanes when you\u2019re in a school zone.<\/li>
• If your children plan on walking to school, walk the route with them in advance. Point out some areas where they\u2019ll likely see more traffic. It\u2019s just as important they keep themselves safe as well.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

  I trust we\u2019ll have a great school year because we have great students, parents, educators, crossing guards, and school enforcement officers. I appreciate all of you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
