{"id":3756,"date":"2022-01-28T11:02:34","date_gmt":"2022-01-28T18:02:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.westjordan.utah.gov\/?post_type=citycouncil&#038;p=3756"},"modified":"2022-01-28T11:02:35","modified_gmt":"2022-01-28T18:02:35","slug":"council-corner-february-2022","status":"publish","type":"citycouncil","link":"https:\/\/www.westjordan.utah.gov\/citycouncil\/council-corner-february-2022\/","title":{"rendered":"Council Corner &#8211; February 2022"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In our first regular Council Meeting of 2022, the Council elected Council Member Kayleen Whitelock to be Council Chair by acclamation, and elected Council Member Kelvin Green to be Council Vice-chair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m honored to be leading the Council this year,\u201d said Chair Whitelock. \u201cSomething I want to initiate this year is giving \u2018spotlights\u2019 to the great things that have taken place in the City and the outstanding individuals who live within our City.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, several public works city employees did an excellent job at directing Covid testing traffic around City Hall during peak testing times in January.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe as a Council greatly appreciated their willingness to do this task on behalf of the City\u2014this task isn\u2019t directly in their job description,\u201d said Council Member Melissa Worthen. \u201cI hope that everyone treats city employees, healthcare officials, first responders, teachers, and each other kindly as everyone navigates their way through this wave of the pandemic. I think we all are trying our best, and kindness can help bring our community together.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, as a reminder, we would love for you to join us for City Council Meetings from the comfort of your own home. Did you know West Jordan was at the forefront of cities when it came to create a Council Chamber that is friendly for remote participation?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you want to give public comment, you can participate via Zoom Webinar or by phone. You can find the webinar id and phone number on agendas posted at City Hall or on the City\u2019s website.
