NOTICE OF TRANSFER OF ENTERPRISE FUNDS

The West Jordan City Council will hold a public hearing to receive public comment on a proposed transfer of enterprise funds on the following date. This hearing will include budget and accounting information.

Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at 7:00 p.m.

Interested parties are invited to attend and make comment. Details on how to make comment and/or watch the meetings electronically are available on the City’s website on the Agenda page. PURPOSE

In accordance with Utah Code §10-6-135.5, notice is hereby given that the West Jordan City Council will hold a public hearing to receive comment on transfers included in the Tentative Budget for Fiscal Year 2022 from the City’s enterprise funds to the City’s General Fund. The amounts shown in this notice are the maximum amounts proposed. Since the City calculates this amount based on 5% of certain utility fees, the actual amounts may vary slightly.

BACKGROUND

The Water, Wastewater, Solid Waste, Storm Water, and Streetlight Funds are accounted for as enterprise funds which means they are operated with user fees charged for goods and services. In the Tentative Budget for Fiscal Year 2022, the City is proposing to transfer funds from these utility funds into the City’s General Fund to act as the collection of franchise tax as are paid by non-city utilities.

PROPOSED TRANSFER AMOUNTS FROM THE UTILITY FUNDS TO THE GENERAL FUND

Water Transfer to General Fund $1,379,250 % of total fund expenditures 4.9%

Sewer Transfer to General Fund $665,000 % of total fund expenditures 4.5%

Solid Waste Transfer to General Fund $298,700 % of total fund expenditures 5.1%

Storm Water Transfer to General Fund $215,579 % of total fund expenditures 3.1%

Streetlight Transfer to General Fund $37,500  % of total fund expenditures 3.4%
