Together in preparation, together in resilience – West Jordan City to Participate in Great Utah ShakeOut

West Jordan City is joining cities and counties across the state for The Great Utah ShakeOut! ShakeOuts are popular programs in many states that are in “earthquake country.” When we’re together in preparation, we’re together in resilience.
At exactly 10 AM on Thursday, April 17, every city employee will drop, cover, and hold on! Then, they’ll head to their designated safe zones for evacuation.
During this time, all customer service windows will close, and no city business will be conducted for at least 30 minutes. Once everyone has safely evacuated, we’ll conduct a thorough accountability check to ensure everyone is safe.
If you have city business, we recommend completing it before 10 AM or waiting until later in the day. Even better—join us in preparing at home by participating in your own Great ShakeOut! Learn more and get ready at ShakeOut Utah.
Together, we’re not just preparing for the unexpected—we’re building a stronger, more resilient West Jordan!
