Statement from Mayor Dirk Burton on the Passing of Former Rep. Mia Love

A woman with long dark hair and a black scarf smiles next to a man in a gray flat cap and glasses. He is wearing a blue button-up shirt with white stars on the shoulders. They are standing in front of a wooden door.

“My first in-person meeting with Mia Love was at my own home during a neighborhood gathering. At the time, I was a Republican delegate and had the honor of voting for her at convention. Mia was a kind and intelligent leader who truly cared about the people she served—she engaged with residents, returned calls, and made a real difference as a congresswoman. It was an honor to have known her, supported her, and called her a friend. My heartfelt condolences go out to her family and to all those whose lives she influenced.”
