West Jordan Firefighters Join Effort to Combat Los Angeles Wildfires

On January 9, 2025, three firefighters from West Jordan, Utah, were deployed to assist in combating the devastating wildfires sweeping across Los Angeles, California. Capt. Dan Gates, Tam Haynie, and Ben Lynch joined a group of firefighters from across Utah as part of an interstate effort to help bring the fires under control.

The firefighters will be in California for the next 14 days, lending their expertise to support local crews overwhelmed by the scale and intensity of the wildfires. The blazes, fueled by dry conditions and strong winds, have already caused widespread destruction, forcing thousands to evacuate their homes and threatening both urban and natural areas.
