WJPD Earns K9 Top Patrol Agency Award

West Jordan’s Police Department walked away with the K9 Top Patrol award and 15 other awards for excellence in K9 skills and training. This is the second time they won a top agency award this year.

The Bradley Taylor Memorial K9 Trials was held for the first time on Sept 6-8, with about 65 dogs competing from Utah and Nevada.

Bradley Taylor, a K9 officer for Sandy City, passed away from cancer on Sept 3, 2023. The Memorial Trials were created to honor his love and dedication to police dogs.

Our K9 teams earned the following awards:

Officer Rodriguez with K9 Harley: 1st place Top Patrol Dog, 1st in Vehicle Narcotics search,  2nd in Criminal Apprehension and 3rd  in Agility.

Sgt. Jones with K9 Vranik: 1st place in Obedience, 1st in Agility, 4th in Patrol Area Search, and 4th in Tuff Dog.

Officer Longmore with K9 Jax: 3rd place in Tracking and 5th in Vehicle Narcotics Search.

Officer Cardon with K9 Echo: 1st place in Tuff Dog, 2nd in Agility,  4th in Tactical Obedience and 5th in Patrol Building Search.

Officer Rodriguez from West Jordan Police Department (WJPD) said, “The K9 team exhibits unwavering commitment and dedication, approaching their roles as K9 handlers with the utmost seriousness. Their rigorous training and tireless efforts render them invaluable assets for upholding community safety. This unparalleled level of dedication positions the West Jordan Police K9 squad as one of the foremost in the nation.”
