Take Advantage of West Jordan’s upcoming E-Waste and Shred Event
Hey West Jordan residents! Did you know recycling electronics is super important for keeping our planet clean and our personal info safe?
Helping the Environment
Electronic waste is piling up everywhere. If we just toss our old gadgets in the trash or burn them, they release nasty chemicals and heavy metals into the air, water, and soil.
By recycling, we can reuse valuable materials like metals and plastics. This means we don’t have to dig up new resources, which is great for the environment.
Protecting Your Data
With more cybercrimes happening, it’s really important to keep our personal information safe. Recycling electronics properly doesn’t just get rid of old stuff—it also protects our data.
Gadgets like phones, tablets, and computers store lots of personal info. Even after a factory reset, some data might still be there. If not handled right, this info could end up in the wrong hands.
Join Us for the E-Waste and Shred Event
Come to our event on August 3, 2024, from 10 AM to 12 PM at the West Jordan Public Works Department (7960 S 4000 W, West Jordan, UT 84081). You can bring up to two ‘Bankers Boxes’ of paper to shred and any household electronic waste. We’ll shred your documents right there!
Just make sure your items are ready: paper should be loose (no big clips, rubber bands, or binders). Also, bring proof that you live or work in the city (like a driver’s license, utility bill, or city ID badge).
What You Can Bring:
- Cell phones
- Computers and keyboards
- Hard drives (we can shred these if they’re taken out of the computer)
- Stereos
- Fax machines
- iPods
- MP3 players
- DVD players
Please note: We can’t accept TVs, CRT monitors, cracked LCDs, batteries, lightbulbs, or printers. For info on how to get rid of these items, contact the Transjordan or Salt Lake Valley Landfill.
Mark your calendars for August 3, 2024! Join us in helping the environment and keeping your personal data safe. See you there!
