So you’ve got your Turkey, Here’s what else to keep in mind for November
As Thanksgiving approaches on November 23rd, West Jordan residents have more than just turkey preparations on their plate. Here’s a helpful checklist to keep in mind as you navigate through the month:
- City Closure: Temporary City Hall and various city facilities will be closed on Thursday, November 23rd, and Friday, November 24th, in observance of Thanksgiving. Be sure to plan accordingly for any city-related business.
- Support Local on Small Business Saturday: Saturday, November 25th, marks Small Business Saturday. Take the opportunity to support local West Jordan businesses.
- Exercise Your Right to Vote: Don’t forget that Election Day is on November 21st. It’s crucial to make your voice heard by voting for your representative. - Garbage Collection: Garbage collection will be paused on Thursday, November 23rd. For those whose regular pickup day falls on Thursday or Friday, collection will be postponed by one day.
- Green Waste Collection Deadline: The last full week of November signals the end of green waste collection for 2023. Ensure that all your green waste is in your can before the specified date on your regular garbage day. Green waste pick up will resume in April 2024.
- Protect Your Pipes This Thanksgiving: While preparing your Thanksgiving feast, be mindful of what goes down the drain to prevent future plumbing issues.
- Limit Fats, Oil, and Grease (FOG): Properly dispose of fats, oil, and grease in designated containers to avoid clogging the sewer system.
- Regular Lateral Servicing: Residents are encouraged to service their private laterals regularly to prevent potential blockages and maintain a smoothly functioning sewer system.
- Commercial Grease and Sand Trap Maintenance: Commercial users should remain vigilant in maintaining grease and sand traps to prevent any disruptions to the local sewer collection system.
Have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!
