Mayor’s Message – November 2024
Dear West Jordan residents,
As we approach Veterans Day, I want to extend a heartfelt invitation to all of you to join us for an event that’s truly meaningful to our community. Every year, we gather at Veterans Memorial Park to honor the courage, dedication, and sacrifices of our veterans. This isn’t just an event on the calendar—it’s a time for us to come together, pay tribute, and reflect on the freedoms we enjoy because of their service.
Our Veterans Memorial Park, dedicated entirely to our nation’s heroes, stands as a daily reminder of the selflessness and bravery of those who’ve served. Veterans Day gives us the chance to pause and recognize these sacrifices. This year’s program, hosted in partnership with the Utah National Guard and Veterans of Foreign Wars, will be held on Monday, November 11, at 10:30 AM at the Veterans Memorial Park Monument (1985 W 7800 S). We’ll also hold a special flag retirement ceremony—please feel free to bring any worn flags in need of respectful retirement.
By joining us, you’ll be part of a powerful tradition in our city, one that grows each year as we honor those who’ve given so much for our country. As a reminder, city facilities will be closed on Veterans Day in observance of this holiday.
I hope to see you there as we stand together to remember and honor our veterans.
Sincerely,
Mayor Dirk Burton
