“Home of the Good Neighbor” is our motto in West Jordan.
What does that mean?
To answer, first, we need to get to know our neighbors. I am offering you a challenge to help you be that good neighbor. Start with each neighbor next door to you. Next, go across the street, then continue down the road. Don’t stop there, continue meeting people until you know every resident in your neighborhood.
Introduce yourself. Tell a bit about your background. Allow each of your neighbors to do the same. Get to know them and let them get to know you. You are off to a great start.
I have found, as I have been able to meet so many of you here in West Jordan, we have a lot of good people in this city. I think as we take the time to be friends with those who live closest to us, we will learn what a wonderful place we have here in West Jordan.
With Covid-19 taking the back seat and the vaccine coming to the forefront, there are more opportunities for us to get together. I am taking advantage of this warmer weather to get outside in our community. I would be thrilled to meet with you as I get around. It is a pleasure for me to meet with you in your neighborhoods. Whether in small groups of one to two persons, or larger groups of 30 or so persons (or anything in between), I want to meet with you.
It will be good for me to hear how your neighborhood is doing. What are some improvements that are needed? What makes your area special? Why do you like living where you are? If you have specific needs, perhaps I can bring with me the appropriate staff to assist. I would be happy to share the things that are happening in West Jordan and get ideas about the direction you would like to see West Jordan move toward going forward. Together, we can make great things happen. You may arrange a meeting by email, Mayor@ West.Jordan.Utah.gov or by phone at 801-569-5100.
We can schedule the morning, afternoon, or evening.
I will come to you. I am here for you. Let’s do this!
Sincerely,
Mayor Dirk Burton
