How to be a Firefighter at West Jordan

The minimum requirements to be considered in the firefighter testing process are Fire I & Fire II courses as well as possess a current EMT license. Additional courses and certifications are strongly suggested.

The Utah Fire Rescue Academy at Utah Valley University offers fire and hazardous materials training and certifications. Emergency Medical Technician and Paramedic training is also available through the Academy, as well as at area medical training schools. With the growth of our paramedic program, those with a Utah Paramedic Certification and firefighting certifications and experience will be the most sought after.
