Samba Rio is a band that honors the lush compositions of Brazil’s great composers, including A.C. Jobim and Luis Bonfa. 

We absolutely love the syncopated rhythms, sultry melodies, gorgeous harmonies, evocative lyrics and tropical grooves. Grooves include Bossa Nova, Samba, Baiao, and Partido Alto.

Our vocalist, Suzy Lind Nichols sings beautifully in Portuguese as well as English. Curtis Woodbury doubles masterfully on tenor saxophone and Jazz fiddle. Matt Larson (bass) and Jay Lawrence (drums) have been performing together, creating spellbinding grooves, for over three decades. Kenji Aihara, a virtuoso guitarist rounds out the group with an extraordinary harmonic sense.
